چکیده

The modern concept of the evolution Mars assumes that life could potentially have originated on planet Mars, possibly during end late heavy bombardment, and then be transferred to other planets. Since then, physical chemical conditions changed now strongly limit presence terrestrial-like forms. These adverse include scarcity liquid water (although brine solutions may exist), low temperature atmospheric pressure, cosmic radiation. Ionizing radiation is very important among these life-constraining factors because it damages DNA cellular components, particularly in where radiation-induced reactive oxidants diffuse freely. Here, we investigated impact high doses (up 2 kGy) densely-ionizing (197.6 keV/µm), space-relevant iron ions (corresponding irradiation reach uppermost layer subsurface) survival an extremophilic terrestrial organism—Cryomyces antarcticus—in medium under conditions, through different techniques. Results showed survived a metabolically active state when subjected Fe was able repair eventual damages. It implies some forms can withstand prolonged exposure ion

P-60: Survival Assessment of Mouse In Vitro Embryos after Exposure to Cell Phone Radiation

Background Using cellular phone among adults, teenagers and children has rapidly increased all over the world. Also, the concern on the possible health hazards of Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) induced from cell phones on reproduction has been growing in many countries. The aim was to assess the morphological parameters, survival rate and development of mouse in-vitro embryos obtained by natural ...

Assessment of the role of specific absorption rate of mobile phones on the induction of microwave-induced survival adaptive responses after exposure to lethal doses of gamma radiation

Background: Whether exposure to common electromagnetic fields affects human health adversely has been a controversial issue. The main goal of this study was to assess the role of 900 MHz microwave radiations with different specific absorption rates (SARs), emitted from some widely used cell phones, on the induction of adaptive response in male Balb/c mice after receiving a lethal dose of gamma ...

Global Proteomics of the Extremophile Black Fungus Cryomyces antarcticus Using 2D-Electrophoresis

The microcolonial black fungus Cryomyces antarcticus is an extremophile organism growing on and in rock in the Antarctic desert. Ecological plasticity and stress tolerance make it a perfect model organism for astrobiology. 2D-gel electrophoresis and MALDI-TOF/TOF mass spectrometry were performed to explore the protein repertoire, which allows the fungus to survive in the harsh environment. Only...

Cryptoendolithic Antarctic Black Fungus Cryomyces antarcticus Irradiated with Accelerated Helium Ions: Survival and Metabolic Activity, DNA and Ultrastructural Damage

Space represents an extremely harmful environment for life and survival of terrestrial organisms. In the last decades, a considerable deal of attention was paid to characterize the effects of spaceflight relevant radiation on various model organisms. The aim of this study was to test the survival capacity of the cryptoendolithic black fungus Cryomyces antarcticus CCFEE 515 to space relevant rad...
